In FY 03, the Multi-University Reading, Mathematics, and Science Initiative (MURMSI) developed a research agenda in reading, mathematics, science and educational leadership through two meetings with a stakeholder group, representing researchers at state universities, district- and school-level staff, and educational professional organizations. In FY 04, the MURMSI project refined this agenda and set priorities through broader stakeholder input.
To achieve this aim, an online survey was conducted from April 25 to May 13, 2005. Respondents could choose to respond to surveys in 4 different areas: Reading, Mathematics, Science and Educational Leadership. Across all four surveys, there were 834 respondents representing four major stakeholder groups in Florida: school districts/practitioners; state leadership (state government and professional organizations), state universities (Education and Arts & Sciences) and other respondents. A research agenda based on the survey results was incorporated into the MURMSI RFP issued in May 2005 for 2005-06 research projects to be funded from the FY 05 grant award.
