The System Logic Model of FCRSTEM - focused in the areas in which FCRSTEM is working
The mission of FCRSTEM is to improve student achievement and success in STEM courses and careers (A). Emphasis on classroom practice (B) is vital to accomplishing this mission. Several factors influence classroom practice, but the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of teachers (C) are at the core of classroom practice. Effective teachers utilize quality instructional materials, tools, and strategies (D), all of which are best when used along with formative assessments and tools (E). For teachers to effectively utilize time and resources, they must hear consistent messages (F) regarding the outcome goals they are striving to reach. Teachers must receive consistent messages from leaders within schools, districts, and the state (G). In addition, messages from leadership must be consistent with professional development opportunities (H) and with pre-service and lateral-entry training (I). For messages to be consistent across these levels, policies across these levels must be aligned (J). And, for the integrity of this system to be upheld, Florida must have the support of its stakeholders in STEM education (K).
